Hilario is a Ph.D. candidate, originally from Argentina. He obtained his degree in Veterinary Medicine from the National University of Rio Cuarto, Cordoba, in 2018. During his summers at college, Hilario did internships in commercial swine farms doing a variety of production activities. After graduation, Hilario worked as a Technician and Sales Representative at Teknal animal nutrition company in his country.
In 2021, Hilario joined Kansas State University as a M.S. student with the Applied Swine Nutrition team, after a year, he switched to a Ph.D. position. His research has focused on vitamin levels, mineral sources and levels, the impact of dee withdrawal prior to marketing, and lysine requirements on finishing pig growth performance, carcass characteristics, and economics. Currently, he is working on a fellowship project with PIC.
Hilario’s experience with swine research has increased his knowledge in data management, statistical analysis, experimental design, diet formulation, and communication skills. Those competencies are a good complement to his previous experience in the swine industry.
Once he finished his program, Hilario wishes to continue his career providing nutritional solutions to the swine industry. His ability to communicate in Spanish and English should expand his professional opportunities. Hilario desires a career in technical service and nutritional consultancy for a commercial company or production system locally or internationally.
