Max is currently pursing a master's degree in Applied Swine Nutrition at Kansas State University. Originally from Sandusky, Ohio, Max grew up involved in agriculture through his family’s greenhouse business. He received his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Iowa State University with a minor in Meat Science in the Fall of 2022. During his time at Iowa State University, he worked as an undergraduate swine research assistant where he developed an interest in research. Paired with commercial experience gained through his internship with The Maschhoffs he developed a passion for the swine industry which played a crucial role in his decision to pursue further education in swine nutrition. His research at KSU has included the effect that zinc source has on finishing pig performance and carcass characteristics, along with evaluating water characteristics and their effects on reducing water pH when using citric acid. In addition, he manages data, conducts statistical analysis and writes final reports for a commerical research program with a swine production system.
