Dr. Beau Peterson grew up in the small town of Alpha, Illinois on a diversified crop and livestock farm. He attended the University of Illinois, where he received his Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D degrees in Animal Science. His research during graduate school focused on pig growth and development and the use of practical management strategies to optimize pork production systems. After completing his Ph.D in June of 2008, Dr. Peterson joined The Maschhoffs in Carlyle, Illinois, where he led Research and Development for 7 years followed by operational leadership roles in supply chain and general management. Dr. Peterson currently serves as the General Manager of Carthage Veterinary Service and the Director of Research for Carthage Innovative Swine Solutions. Dr. Peterson is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois, where he has interacted routinely with undergraduate and graduate students through teaching and active participation on several graduate student thesis committees.
